Maya Healing The Self: Journey To Healing

The Journey To Healing Program is based on ancient wisdom, modern scientific theories of healing, and mind-body spiritual practices; the focus of which involves healing the inner core of the Self. Led by the founder of the Maya Center, Jeanette O'Conor PhD, MS, MN, ARNP, studied and trained in mind-body-spiritual healing practices; you will be led through a natural healing process that integrates full mind-body-spirit teachings along with modern scientific research methods as you journey to complete well-being.

The Journey To Healing Program is founded on the principles that "we believe each individual carries a unique innate higher wisdom, a deep inner strength, and exceptional human potential. These are all resources we awaken and strengthen to facilitate the Self in healing, inner growth, and self-discovery. Through this program you will learn to create complete physical-mental-emotional-spiritual-financial-and environmental wellbeing”.

Many people struggle with issues of low self worth, value, and esteem. This powerful program includes instruction in awareness of your previous paradigms and belief patterns. The lessons in the program will push you to challenge, assess, and reprogram those patterns creating healthier ones. The Journey To Healing Progam will teach you skills to access and develop your inner core of strength and enhance your own healing capacity. The Journey To Healing Program will guide you as you learn to build up your belief in your self, it will raise your feelings of self worth and value, and it will teach you to access your innate capabilities to heal.

Maya Healing In The Community: Healing Hearts Program

The Healing Hearts Program was born out of a need to offer healing services to patients suffering at the end of their lives. Originally, our program started as a small pilot project offering healing modalities to patients near death as a means of easing pain, anxiety, and suffering during this significant life transition. What we discovered was the powerful way our healing modalities could provide struggling dying patients with a sense of peace and comfort.

The Healing Hearts Program has now developed into an outreach program in the community whereby we are collaborating with local oncology medical practices to offer healing therapies such as aromatherapy, acupressure, acupuncture, healing touch, meditation, and reiki to patients being treated with Cancer. The goal of offering these therapies is to facilitate a general sense of improved well-being while the patient is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. We work closely with oncology physicians and practitioners to complement current medical therapies by using safe and effective modalities found to enhance quality of life, satisfaction, and general wellbeing.

Maya Healing International: Healing Service in Inner Tibetan Autonomous Region

Tibet is located in the highest plateau of the world, where it is estimated that 2.6 million reside. Tibet has a long, rich, and deep history of unique culture and Buddhist traditions, much of which is in danger of being lost due to the political environment today. There are many areas of critical need in the Tibetan Autonomous Region, with the primary needs being poverty, lack of health care services, and health care education. These needs are particularly high for women and children who are now experiencing harsh conditions and the full effects of the environmental changes and d iscriminatory practices.

Therefore, The Maya Center is establishing a program to help meet the basic health and educational needs of the people in the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR); while also developing greater sense of understanding and appreciation of the contribution the traditional Tibetan culture and healing practices bring to health and well-being. The Maya Center is in the process of creating an educational-service learning program where interested students can travel with our faculty to Tibet, learn about the a Tibetan culture and traditions while also serving to meet the health care needs of a Tibetan village.

Dr. O'Conor is traveling to Tibet in June of 2007 to begin to establish this ongoing initiative.
